Six young musicians studying in every corner of Europe, in Berlin, Salzburg, London, Manchester, Saarbrucken, and Bucharest, and who play the violin, cello, piano, and organ, returned to Romania for the COOLsound National Tour 2018. All six met on the stage of the Radio Concert Hall on 9 September.

2. Classical to the Third Degree Recital

A family of musicians – Marin Cazacu on cello, Iulia Cazacu on violin, Ștefan Cazacu on cello, and Constanța Cazacu on flute, in other words, the Cazacu String Trio, gave concerts as part of a national tour that took in Timișoara, Bucharest, Bistrița, Alba Iulia, Deva and Caracal between 1 and 10 October. The centrepiece of the tour was the recital at the Radio Concert Hall on 3 October, from which Romanian music was by no means lacking.

3. Enescu’s Violin Recital

Between 12 September and 8 October 2018, the George Enesco’s Violin tour returned to Romania’s concert halls for its eighth year. Gabriel Croitoru, the violinist who has the privilege of playing the Guarneri de Gesu violin known as “The Cathedral,” which Georges Enesco himself once played (the instrument was provided by the Georges Enesco National Museum and is part of its collection), and pianist Horial Mihail gave concerts celebrating Romania’s Centenary in Alba Iulia, Deva, Tecuci, Bistrița, Timișoara, Slatina, Caracal, and Bucharest.

The final concert of the tour was on 8 October, in Bucharest’s Radio Concert Hall. As usual, the programme of the recitals was full of surprises, and Romanian pieces were by no means lacking.

4. Mălina Ciobanu Recital • COOLsound 2018 National Tour

Young violinist Mălina Ciobanu gave a solo recital in Tulcea as part of the COOLsound National Tour on 2 September. The programme included The Lăutar, the famous piece for solo violin from Georges Enesco’s Impressions of Childhood.

5. Radu Prisada Recital • COOLsound 2018 National Tour

Young pianist Radu Prisada gave a solo piano recital in Timoșoara as part of the COOLsound National Tour on 6 September. The programme included one of the most emblematic Romanian pieces for solo piano, Sigismund Toduță’s Passacaglia.
